Background

By Pete W2HP, one of the founders...

The Bergen County FM Assn. (BCFMA) was incorporated in 1970 as a nonprofit organization registered in the State of NJ. Its roots began in 1967 when a group of Amateur Radio Operators organized into an informal club, to provide emergency communications to a then CD/DC organization. The Bergen County CD director was Colonel Carl Koenig and he spearheaded our efforts for this group. Col. Koenig received approval for our repeaters and the BCFMA installed one repeater at Bergen Pines, and another one at the Bergen County Riding Academy in Franklin Lakes as a back up. Franklin Lakes which is much farther north has limited coverage but better to the west. The Paramus “Pines” system coverage is near perfect for all within the County.
